he exciting young organization, the Halifax Music Cooperative, is a professional and volunteer organization of about 120 Halifax musicians and followers. Regularly, it presents concerts of classical and contemporary interest. The organization grew out of an earlier University of King's College collaboration.
Presently the HMC operates out of the ex-gymnasium of the Brunswick Street United Church, and the renovation is meant to overcome some of the short-comings of that very space. While the space serves well (enough) as a rehearsal hall, Peter Henry Architects (with Douglas Matthews Designer) set out to improve the room acoustics and to convert the space into a performance venue.
